Snake Skin

Alabaster bubbles clouding my mind

Smooth hands running across hard walls

The place inside my mind

A home I’ll never truly know

Life struck me across the face

With everything it had

My paper body crumpled under its weight

Sleep protecting my soul as my mind gave up

I came to

Hands slumped at my sides

I came to

Dirt stabbing at my palms

Eyes crept open to find my place

I came to

With you inside me

Your grin and laugh the only air to breathe

Alabaster bubbles clouding my mind

Pills slipping to the bottom of a bottle

As I drink

Dancing spirit gave way to tequila dreams

Soulful nightmares

Shattered layers of who I thought was me
